After I left, I went to Papa John's to pick up the pizzas, paid, and caught Laura as I was walking back to the car. On the way back to school she vented about her ex and we slowed down to check out some softball girls while looking for parking. We are supposed to go see 'The Black Dahlia' Sunday afternoon, but I am still not holding my breath. After an amusing parallel parking attempt, we cut through some sports building to get to the student union.
So the meeting Thursday was kind of a bust. We had only a handful of new people show up. I think it was due to lack of advertising. We'll have to try harder next time. Though I think Derrick and I scared away the new people. We get giddy and silly when we are tired and miffed at lack of participation. Hopefully the newbies want to help out. A few people that said they'd be there bitched out, so we were stuck with mucho extra pizza. We did have 2 feminist group chicks show up to talk about collaborating on events. Something about a breast cancer run (with the option to buy shirts that say "I heart boobs!") and some sexpert around Valentine's day. Dr. Ruth? Sue Johanson? Annie Sprinkle? Of course I brought up that episode of "Real Sex" from HBO back in the day with the 2 big dykes with the strap-on plushy vaginas. I know 5 people from college that watched that and none of us were together. One of the feminists said she saw that episode too! We also got scolded three times about having "outside" food (meaning not fucking Sodexo) at the meeting. Fucking fuckers!
After the meeting I went home, played on the computer, fought the urge to watch the new "Survivor" and then watched an old episode of "The Office". I can't wait til next week, Pam (the ADORABLE secretary) and Jim HAVE to get together!!! I played guitar for a little bit and then went to sleep.
Again, very poor sleep. Stuffy/ runny nose and sore throat. It all started 2 days before with some mild coughing, then a sore throat, then my nose decided it wanted to malfunction as well.
So yesterday (Friday) I woke up feeling uber-crappy and decided to skip breakfast and just go to school. I remember listening to Hawksley Workman in the car, but I do not remember which songs. I did not get a good parking spot.
At school I checked my email and put my snake bits in fresh goo. I played on the internet (briefly) and then called Amazon to see where the hell 'Surrender' was! They said wait til Satuday after the mail gets delivered.
I went to the Med building to bother Beth since Dr. Doung was too busy to meet, and I could not find Angie to change the microscope camera, and could not find Dr. Moga to get my test scores. She was amazed I didn't want any M+Ms. I said I couldn't taste them so why bother.
I read for Physiology seminar. The reading was less boring. Stuff on mating and agression are always interesting. There was an amusing section on possible evolution for female-female mounting behaviors. It has been speculated that it is to get the interest of males and let them know they are ready to mate. I laughed. This does not apply to humans. My mounting girls (as sadly so infrequent as it is) has nothing to do with guys at all!!!!!!!!
While I was reading, Saurabh was listening to some music on his computer. One was some country song, the other was 'Hotel California' by The Eagles. It was funny to hear him try to sing in English. I think it is far funnier than my attempts to sing in French (stupid Sarah Harmer Salamder song!).
Class was tortuous. I was silent the whole time because a) I know nothing about this hormone crap and because b) I was dripping clear liquid snot the whole time. I finally started to shake it got so bad that I bolted and went to the lab to blow the crap out of my nose. I was far better and brought extra Kleenex with me so I would not have to wipe my snot on my hands then on my jeans.
After class I went back to the med building to find Dr. Moga and see my grade. I did marginally ok on the first test. But I am far from worried. We have 4 exams and a final in Histology and that is more than enough to get an 'A' with.
I left her office to have Beth tell me to run and catch Angie. I did, so we chatted about the BBC thingy and such. I took the keys back up to Beth and chatted with her for a nice long while. She was actually in her real office and not at the front desk. She has some cool stuff in her office. The coolest of which are her Star Trek (the original) figurines! She has Kirk, Spock, and Chechov! We both love William Shatner. Poor Bill, he'll never be that thin again.
I went down to the lab to play with the camera. I know I keep saying I'll post pics, and have yet to leep that promise, but I think I'll put up a pic of the snake-block some time. It looked really cool under the dissecting scope camera.
I went back to the Science Building to take my snakes out of the goo and find George so we could embed them. My one dyed snake piece was nice and blue on the inner portions but the outside scales appear not so blue, but it should be ok.
So as I was mixing the plasticizing goo, I notinged some like pink on my hand, and I wondered what I had touched. Apparently one of my plastic snake chemicals was eating through my glove!
Not so good. We put the snakes bits in their goo molds int he bell jar and sucked all the air out. Then decided to blow it full of Nitrogen instead to prevent bubbles. I have yet to find out if that worked.
I went home, and was happy to see that my 'Surrender' DVD had arrive. So I wolfed down some toast and cocoa (yeah it is all gone now!) and headed upstairs. As crappy as a movie as it was, it was still hot. Poor Katherine Brooks, what on earth were you thinking? At least I got to see you naked.
I talked to Kailea for a while (while eating mini chewy Sweet Tarts) but had to go since it was before 9pm. So I watched 'On A Clear Day'. It was very cute, and Jodhi May as looking good as per always. It is about this guy who gets laid off (he was a ship builder) and kind of loses it so he decided to swim the English Channel. He did!
After the movie I played guitar for a while. I am getting better still. I can now go from a C to a funky G7 without stumbling or looking at my left hand.
Letterman was on and I watched it cuz Rachel Ray was on! She was on for like 6 minutes at the end, but was still on. She was her adorable little bubbly snack-sized self, like always; and she so must be on drugs to do what she does. She has a new show starting on Monday and she is still doing all her food network shows too! She is a mad-woman!
I then watched Craig Ferguson (he is so funny!) because Mia Kirschner was on. She is a cute little Canadian actress from 'The L Word' and she plays Elizabeth Short in 'The Black Dahlia'.
She was also on for like 6 minutes towards the end.
Again, bad sleep plagued me. I was so snotty and could not breathe, so finally at 6am I decided to take an allergy-sinus pill and it helped bunches.
On my way out the door I noticed the birds were sounding unusual. Saint said it was from the migrations. The woods at Kiewig are flooded with migrating birds so they are all loud and clashing. It was very cool to hear.
Now I am at school, blogging and waiting for the bell jar with my snake heads to warm up so I can take them out cuz they are done. When they are done I plan to go home, take another allergy-sinus thingy and take a nap.
Random fact of the day: I hate taking medicine! It take a lot for me to medicate. I will only take anti-diahrreals (like Imodium) if I am going somewhere all day and I have the shits. Other than that it can just run out of me naturally at home. I only take pain killers if the pain is interfering with my focus. I only take cough syrup when coughing is keeping me awake. Although I am fond of Nyquil (original Green Death flavor) comas. I can sleep 14 hours on Nyquil and not remember anything. I only take sinus meds when I realize that it will take more than a couple days to get better. Most stuff I just ignore. I am not fond of going to the doctor. They usually are not so helpful so I just don't bother. I am glad I am not a pill popper, or one who uses illness or medical issues to get out of doing work, unlike some people! I did when I was way younger, I would fake sick or exaggerate to not go to school. I had high marks anyways so it wasn;t like ai was going to get behind. During AP exam week in High School senior year I demanded a mental health day after each exam cuz I was so burned out. I was a wicked bitch to my family when I was 18.
